A Decade of Pronology at The Oscars®

February 8, 2020 – For the 10th year in a row, Pronology, a developer of cutting-edge tapeless workflow solutions, continues its tradition of being a part of the action at the 92nd annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Oscars®.  Pronology works behind the scenes, utilizing its entire suite of production tools in the month leading into and weeks after production. Pronology’s mRes standalone multi-resolution encoder along with its CenterPoint media asset management platform were deployed to encode media as well as manage and share it in a easy and secure way. In addition, Pronology’s NetVU application was used with NewTek’s NDI® standard for video production and monitoring over IP.

Prior to the broadcast, thousands of pre-produced audio and video elements must be formally approved by ABC Broadcast Standards and Practices (BS&P). Using CenterPoint, the BS&P team was able to monitor deliveries from the SIM group directly from its offices and immediately approve them for air.

Pronology’s mRes standalone multi-resolution encoder was used during the musical acts. By having a secure web-streamable proxy encoded at the same time as the high resolution media, the performers were able to watch their rehearsals and main performances immediately after for review purposes.

Pronology’s suite of applications has proven pivotal in the workflow of the Academy for engineers, producers, and artists alike and hopes to continue that tradition for years to come.
